Therapy Process
4. How many hours of ABA therapy are recommended?
Sunny Solutions ABA asks for a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week to ensure meaningful progress. The total hours are based on individual needs and clinical recommendations.
5. What happens during an ABA session?
Sessions include direct instruction, skill-building activities, reinforcement strategies, and caregiver training. Early sessions focus on rapport and pairing, which may look like play but are crucial for trust and engagement.
6. How are therapy goals determined?
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) assesses each client’s needs and collaborates with families to create individualized goals.
7. How long does ABA therapy last?
The duration depends on the client’s progress and family goals. Services are regularly evaluated to ensure effectiveness.
Attendance & Cancellations
8. What is your attendance policy?
Families should commit to at least 10 hours per week. Frequent cancellations (more than four times in 30 days) may result in service adjustments.
9. What if we need to cancel a session?
Cancellations should be made at least 24 hours in advance. If staff cancel, they will attempt to make up the hours.
10. What if my child is sick?
Clients must be symptom-free for at least 24 hours before resuming therapy.
Billing & Insurance
11. Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we accept multiple insurance providers. Contact us to verify coverage and discuss financial options.
12. What costs are families responsible for?
Families cover copays, deductibles, and any non-covered services. Private pay options are available.
13. How does billing work?
For in-home services, insurance-based billing applies. For school-based services, contracts with schools/districts dictate payment terms. Failure to pay client portions may result in service suspension.
Staff & Supervision
14. Who provides ABA therapy?
Behavior Technicians (BTs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) work under the supervision of BCBAs and BCaBAs.
15. How often will a BCBA be involved?
A BCBA supervises at least 10% of prescribed therapy hours, conducts bi-annual assessments, and provides parent training to support progress.
16. Can I meet my child’s therapy team?
Yes, we encourage open communication between families and our therapy team.
Technology & Communication
17. How is client progress tracked?
Staff use iPads to collect real-time session data, ensuring accurate tracking and progress monitoring.
18. Are staff allowed to use cell phones during sessions?
No, cell phone use is prohibited, except for emergencies or calls from the BCBA/BCaBA regarding client services.
19. How can I communicate with my child’s therapy team?
Families can communicate via scheduled meetings, session notes, or direct contact as needed.
Other Policies & Safety
20. What is your crisis plan?
In emergencies, 911 or 211 will be called. If a staff member requires emergency assistance, the parent or caregiver must also call 911 and notify the owner.
21. Do staff transport clients?
No, staff do not transport clients. However, with expressed permission, staff may ride with a caregiver if the vehicle meets safety standards.
22. How do you handle cultural considerations?
We respect and incorporate cultural backgrounds, values, and traditions into therapy to align interventions with family needs.
23. Are Sunny Solutions ABA staff mandated reporters?
Yes, all staff are mandated reporters and must report any concerns regarding child abuse, neglect, or endangerment.
